Journal!

Media studies class went really well this week ,it was interesting to see all the different poster projects and different film makers. I am really glad the we are staring to watch the movie sicko, i have never seen it before and i have always enjoyed the Michel Morre Films. I find that he really gets down to the point about things and lets you know the truth. This is important in our media because people really need to know what is goinmg on in the world. It is awful to see taht the US health care system is so poor , all they care about is money and how much they are making off people. Thye are not thinking about how this could shorten there population being because everyone can not afford health care so they die off faster. If money is so important to them why don,t they spend it on things like getting people good medicare. It's just wrong to see people suffer this way!!

Jounal for Nov.30th

This was a great week i media studies class ! My partner and I are pretty well done our project and we are hoping it is going to effect a lot of people around the school. we hope this will annswer the question of HOW DOES ADVERTISING AFFECT US? We are very excited for this project/ galla. we do hope that our project is successful and we learn this big question on advertising. This week also was great because we had the time in class to complete our project and work with our group members. it is neat to see others opinions on things throughout our group and ideas toward our project. This week i just hope we get our project complete and cant wait for the galla!

Journal(How Does Advertising Affect Us)

This week I think the biggest thing i have learned about how advertising affects us was when we watched the video on the college students and how they are distracted in class. This really stood out to me because it really shows how advertising can distract and really affect us. These student payed a lot of money for text books, class and laptops and it all goes to waste because they are to busy being on face book and their forms of distractions during class time. To me this is a very dangerous thing being because these students are there to learn and they are not learning anything at all everyday. I also this that it is scary to think that technology has gotten so bad that if there is no smart boards and laptops in the room a professor cant teach there students. Another thing that i learned about how advertising can affect us is the certain ads we have watched in class, which being the different commercials we have watched to learn from. These ads have affected us in so many ways and we do not even realize it. Mos of us that sit here in class will actually go home and go on YOU TUBE and watch the ads we have seen in class. This is a form of advertising and how it affects us.!

Journal Entry

Even though we had a really short week this week I have learned a lot in media studies class. The project that we have been working on has really been a good way to think about how advertising really affects us. By this I mean that as we plan out our project we have really noticed the concepts on how advertising affects us. Our goal in our project is to get the message out there on how advertising controls what we do and say. We have developed many ways on how to say this to people ..like posters,videos,poster boards..etc We hope to let people no how thy are being affected without them even knowing it ! Like I said it has been a short couple of weeks and I do not have much to say except for I cannot wait to get stated on this advertising project.

How Does Advertising Affect us??

In my opinion advertising affects us in many ways! it controls how we act and what we say. By this i mean advertising basically tells us what to do with our lives. Advertising tells us many things everyday, when it being at school or at home. I do believe that there is too much advertising in many places. One of the most populer areas for advertising that affects most of us would have to be Television. In my opinio TV has otten out of hand with commercials and advertising. It almost controls us and even controls what we do while we watch TV. For example you could be watching a really good show on TV , but of course when a really good part comes into play a commercial hits and you are forced to watch it so you can watch the rest of your TV show. Another important area of advertising would have to be name brand clothing. We see this everyday in school, to "most people" your a certain label if you where certain clothes and you are only "cool" if you wear certain brand names. In my opinion this has gotten out of hand because the issue of advertising affects us when we cant look "cool" because some people cannot afford it. Some teens try there hardest just to by certain brands and most parents cannot sfford what is out there. This to me is rediculus because you shoud be able to go to school and not worry about what brand names you are wearing. It should not be a popularity contest where all you think about is what you wear and what brand you have. All in all advertising is getting out of hand and is making us not enjoy TV and is making us labels at school.

Journal October 12th/2007

Media studies class went very well this week. I have been enjoying this group project and have been learning a lot abut the 1920s era. I am glad we chose this era because it opened up our eyes to see what that era had to go through compared to us. I have also really enjoyed working on the computers, it gives us a chance to research and do thing besides writting things down all the time. I also really like the fact that we are doing group work and all the time we get to do this project in class!

Journal # 2

The most interesting thing that i have learned in media studies class this week was the movie AN INCONVIENENT TRUTH. I learned a lot from this video and it really taught me a lot about what is happening to our planet. This film can really make you open up your eyes and think. i can not believe that this is going on and we are just watching our planet "die" away. My favorite part of the video was when he showed most of the charts and stats about what is really going on. Al Gore was good at presenting this action and i liked how he was using a bit of comedy to explain the problems. i also like how he used a lot of his personal life in this video. Pop culture was also really interesting this week. its neat to know how American pop culture and Canadian popcultuer are so different in our world. to top it all off the slinky song was deffinatley the best ! lol:)
